Seattle, Washington
– The Washington Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced today that Jerry Miller, Director of Operations at Transformative Wave, was honored with a Patriot Award in recognition of his extraordinary support of an employee who serves in the Washington Army National Guard.

According to Larry Kirchner, ESGR Military Outreach Director, “The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals and firms who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve. Mr. Miller was nominated for being highly supportive of Specialist Junior Suce, who serves with the 181st Brigade Support Battalion, 81st Brigade Combat Team, located at the Marysville Reserve Center. Supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units both when called to state support missions and federal active duty.”

SPC Suce, in the award ceremony, expressed his gratitude for the support and flexibility in scheduling which allows Suce to succeed in both his civilian and military careers. 2015 was especially busy as SPC Suce not only attended his normal 15 day annual training but his unit was activated for State active duty to fight fires in Eastern Washington.

Transformative Wave is a leading energy efficiency innovator in HVAC retrofit and building automation solutions, developing and bringing to market a growing line of game-changing technologies that are transforming the commercial building energy landscape.

As the 1.2 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions with America’s borders and beyond, ESGR will continue to be the resource for the employers of citizen warriors. ESGR provides education, consultation, and if necessary, mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve employees. More information about ESGR Employer Outreach Programs and volunteer opportunities is available by calling the Washington State office at (877) 306-1971.
