IKEA In Renton, Washington Sees Major Energy Savings With Transformative Wave’s CATALYST
IKEA is a nationally recognized showroom retailer with a firm dedication to sustainability and efficiency. Transformative Wave was pleased to partner with them to create a more energy efficient facility for their Renton, Wash. location.
THE CHALLENGE
Even with new equipment, and a sophisticated building management system, facilities staff had been tasked with saving an additional 7% in energy spend.
THE PROJECT
Because the existing BMS provided many energy-saving features, only the CATALYST Opti-Run fan control was applied to the 40 units at IKEA Renton. Units average 12.5 tons.
SUMMARY
The IKEA project answered two previously unaddressed questions: how would the CATALYST function in tandem with the most sophisticated BMS systems, and were significant savings available in a fan-only application? The answer to both questions has been a resounding “YES” at IKEA Renton.
POWERFUL RESULTS
Utility Subsidy of Entire Project Cost:
- 25%
Project Pay Back:
- 1.8 years
Projected Savings:
- 327,000 kWh/yr
Return on Investment (ROI):
- 56%
