BJ’s Wholesale Club Sees 52% HVAC Electrical Energy Savings With The CATALYST

Headquartered in Westborough, MA, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Inc. is a leading operator of membership warehouse clubs in the Eastern United States. The company currently operates over 190 Clubs in 15 states from Maine to Florida and employs more than 24,000 Team Members. BJ’s has been an ENERGY STAR® Partner since 1998 and has received numerous awards for energy efficiency, such as the EPA New England Environmental Merit Award, and the Edison Electric Institute’s Energy Management Award for Partnership.

THE CHALLENGE

As part of a study conducted by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for the Department of Energy, the CATALYST Energy Enhancing Solution was applied to eight rooftop packaged units to validate the savings potential.

THE SOLUTION

Retrofit eight rooftop HVAC units with the CATALYST and installation of the eIQ Platform. Installation was completed on May 17, 2012 and results are based on typical year weather.

SUMMARY

The CATALYST has saved significant energy and financial resource for BJ’s Wholesale. The store was one of eight facilities to participate in the Department of Energy commissioned study. Data was collected via Transformative Wave’s eIQ Platform at one minute intervals to provide maximum data support to the study.
